Virginia-Highlands Summerfest. This is one of the largest festivals I’ll attend this year, and it is also my first time attending it.
The neighborhood was amazing! So many of the people in the area were friendly. After setting up the tent on Friday we were invited to do a “neighborhood dinner” provided by a local restaurant, Atkin’s Place. While we were in line for food there were people dancing and they also had this huge inflatable to screen the movie Rio 2. I’m not sure why they picked Rio 2, maybe because of the olympics?

The festival itself was also amazing. I was able to meet some really interesting people. Though traffic might have been down because of a neighboring music festival, it was not bad bad traffic at all. Sunday was the trickiest day, though, because the weatherman had given up 80% chance of rain. If you didn’t know, packing up your tent in the rain is no fun! You have to unpack it later and clean it off to prevent mold/mildew. We came to the festival mentally prepared for that outcome and.. yay! It didn’t happen!

Marietta Square Artist Market. This is a small artist market at the heart of downtown Marietta, but it is one of my favorite little festivals to be at. The ladies that run it are nice and it is next to a farmer’s market so I like to sneak over there and do some of my own food shopping.

That being said… I’m still going out there and will still be available.
