This piece was a real joy to paint because of all the techniques I incorporated into the piece. The ground which the tree is on is made with a pumice-stone-paint mixture. The yellow color is Japanese gold, which does a magnificent job of carrying the light. The clouds I painted in added something important to this painting for me– the sense of drifting off that I often feel when I’m thinking of my next artistic project.
